PartyPoker's Aussie Millions Millionaire Factory! Online Qualifiers Take First And Second!
Gibraltar – 30th January 2010 – PartyPoker.com has even more reasons to celebrate this week after two of their online qualifiers finished in first and second place in the 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event at the Crown Casino in Melbourne. 23-year-old Tyron Krost, from Bondi, Sydney scooped first place and a stunning AUD$2,000,000, while Frederik Jensen, a 27-year-old from Copenhagen finished runner-up for AUD$1,100,100. The two online qualifiers dominated a final table that included star names such as Annette Obrestad and Sorel Mizzi.
Krost currently works in his family owned office furniture business in Sydney but now looks to be part of the furniture of the world poker circuit after his amazing win. He recently graduated after studying psychology and finance, both excellent skills for poker.
Sipping champagne with his large supporting contingent Krost said: “This is totally unbelievable - it is beyond my wildest dreams. If it is a dream, I don’t want to wake up! In total I spent $700 trying to qualify for a package and I have managed to turn that into AUD$2,000,000! I got some really good spots on the final table. When I needed a hand I seemed to get it.”
“It just hasn’t sunk in at all how much money I have just won. I have no idea what I am going to with it. I cashed at the World Series in 2008 but nothing like this.” One person who was also ecstatic was his girlfriend Carly, who was cheering him on from the rail.
749 players, including 43 PartyPoker.com online qualifiers, took part in the southern hemisphere’s premier poker event this week and one of those players, poker superstar Gus Hansen fell victim to Krost. “Gus knocked me out of the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event and then I knocked him out in this tournament. Bit spooky that,” added Krost.
Krost’s win means that the Aussie Millions Main Event title stays in Australia and the PartyPoker.com camp for the second year running. Last year’s champion and Team Party member Stewart Scott was amongst the first to pass on congratulations. “I’m delighted for Tyron and I can honestly say I know what he is feeling like right now – it takes your breath away.”
Team Party’s latest signing Tony G was also delighted: “PartyPoker are on a roll. Our players are starting to dominate – it is bike time for the rest!”
Krost had been taking counsel from Tony G before the final table but doesn’t intend to adopt one of the Australian poker idols habits: “I will not be knocking people out and getting them to ride a bike. I will leave that to him!”
Tyron was full of praise for the runner-up and fellow online qualifier Frederik Jensen. “I have to say well played to Frederik. He is an excellent player. It is fantastic that when it came to heads-up there were just two PartyPoker qualifiers left.”
More details on the hands can be found at PartyPoker.com
** Qualifiers are now online at PartyPoker.com for the LA Poker Classic Main Event, which takes place at the Commerce Casino in LA from the 24th February – 4th March. One massive bonus is that if a PartyPoker.com online qualifier wins the tournament, there will be a brilliant $1 million payout with a $500,000 top up going to the winner and $500,000 shared amongst all the other online qualifiers, no matter where they finish in the event! **

PartyGaming joins spread betting party, by Greg Tingle - 15th January 2010
London Capital Group and PartyGaming ink deal. A new player in an ultra competitive sector.
The spread betting market in the UK sector is one of the most competitive in the world, mind you, so is the igaming sector, so one shouldn't be surprised that PartyGaming is ramping up, as its been doing with its casino, poker, bingo and media related sectors of the company.
News today is that PartyGaming has inked a three-year deal with London Capital Group to soon offer a financial spread betting platform. PartyGaming also has brand names PartyBets.com and PartyMarkets, so its probable that the deal with go into one of those brand names.
Industry analysts will of course question if London Capital Group assisting another white label partner into the UK market is a good or bad move. That's something only time will tell. PartyGaming is a large and established player thus can help to offset any costs and reduce majors risks in prime spread betting.
PartyGaming Plc is reportedly the world’s leading listed online gaming company.
The Group is a constituent of the FTSE 250 share index with its shares listed on The London Stock Exchange under the ticker: PRTY. In the year to 31 December 2008, PartyGaming’s Continuing operations generated revenues of $472.9m and Clean EBITDA of $144.2m.
Partygaming has a global reach, and that should place them in a strong position. The Asia Pacific region, and in particular, Australia, is seen to have strong growth potential in the sector.
It's expected that a number of PartyGaming punters will take to the financial spread betting offering, just as some bingo players take to casino, poker and table games. Exactly how much cross over audience for spread betting remains to be see.
*The writer is the founder of the Media Man group of companies including Global Gaming Directory and Casino News Media and has b2b dealings with a number of PartyGaming brands, as they do with dozens of brands in the igaming, gaming and financial sector.

Australia's Gold Coast Remains Hotbed For Sports Betting Scams: Crims charged over $10m online bet scheme, by Greg Tingle - 11th January 2010
Australia's Gold Coast in the Surfers Paradise region maintains its reputation as a hotbed for sports betting scams.
We can now confirm that four males have been arrested on the Gold Coast over an alleged $10 million betting fraud operation.
Police advise that the criminals were involved in a complex sports betting scheme, where bets were placed on all possible outcomes so a profit was made.
The bids were subsequently placed through the group's Gold Coast-based online betting agency (likely to be named and shamed in the near future).
It's alleged some money that punters gave the men to wager cannot be accounted for, something that got the criminals extra unwanted attention in the first place.
The four fraudsters were arrested today after a year-long police investigation sparked by a significant number of complaints by punters from across Australia.
The police named the investigation Operation Stopwatch.
The men have been conjointly charged with one count of fraud between November 2007 and February 2009 and are expected to face further charges including forgery and making false records.
They are due to face Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Acting Detective Inspector Marc Hogan advised the arrests were an excellent outcome.
"The State Crime Operations Fraud and Corporate Crime Group assisted in this investigation and will continue to provide further specialised support," he said.
Media Man last year shed light on a number of sports betting cons originating from the Gold Coast and facilitated communications to the Australian High Tech Crime Centre, a division of the Australian Federal Police.

Sylvester Stallone reveals Steve Austin broke his neck during "Expendables" movie shoot - 5th January 2010
One of the biggest stories in entertainment news today is Sylvester Stallone revealing that WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin broke his neck while filming a fight scene for the upcoming "Expendables" movie.
"My fight with Stone Cold Steve Austin was so vicious that I ended up getting a hairline fracture in my neck. I'm not joking," Stallone told FHM Magazine. "I haven't told anyone this, but I had to have a very serious operation afterwards. I now have a metal plate in my neck."
Filming took place last spring in Brazil. The movie is scheduled to be released on August 20 of this year with a super-star cast that includes Stallone, Austin, "The Wrestler" star Mickey Rourke, UFC fighter Randy Couture, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Jason Statham, and Dolph Lundgren.
This isn't the first time Austin has injured a fellow cast-member during a fight scene. During filming for the "Damage" movie in fall 2008, Austin broke MMA fighter/actor Paul Lazenby's nose during a fight scene. (Read the details and the Torch-Exclusive interview with Lazenby.)
